QUOSA Virtual Library
QUOSA Virtual Library is a platform for team or company-wide literature (articles & internal documents) sharing.
It is a specialized document archive created using Virtual Library software installed on a server (hosted by you or by QUOSA). The Virtual Library is most frequently used to create an article archive/product literature database, for workgroup literature sharing, and to manage document delivery. Key features of the Virtual Library include:
- Seamless integration with the QUOSA Information Manager (which is one of the two tools, along with QUOSA Browser Plus, that can be used to "curate" or publish content to the Virtual Library)
- Add content while maintaining copyright compliance: publish the search index (so the document will come up in a user search) along with the link to the article or with a notice telling users that the document is available via photocopy or through document delivery
- Searches across the full text and citation fields of articles and documents
- Articles and documents published to the Virtual Library may be tagged with custom tags so they can be easily found again. These optional tags are custom developed for you to be relevant to your workflow and needs
- Articles from OvidSP, PubMed, and Embase.com alerts are published directly to the Virtual Library so they are available to your workgroup immediately
- Multiple ways to view and search the contents of the QUOSA Virtual Library: via QUOSA Information Manager, using QUOSA Browser (through a simple Web browser; no software installation required), or using QUOSA Browser Plus
- Convenient email alerts or RSS feeds of newly added content or folders in the Virtual Library to keep track of recent content additions
"Dynamic links" (URL) that allow you to point users directly to a folder in the Virtual Library or to a set of search results. When you click on the link, the results set will open directly in a Web browser (no software installation required). If you send them a "dynamic link" to a search result set, the search will automatically re-run every time they click on the link. As you add new content that satisfies the search criteria to the Virtual Library, your users will see it
Use Virtual Library Plus (a feature included with the Virtual Library) to avoid ordering unnecessary articles through document delivery. As you retrieve articles from the literature databases using Information Manager, Virtual Library Plus will query against the Virtual Library and show you when the article already exists in the Virtual Library. Where you might typically get an abstract, QUOSA will present you with the PDF that was acquired through document delivery and shared in the Virtual Library.
