I have a new computer. How do I move QUOSA Information Manager from my old computer to the new one?
First back up your QUOSA data and transfer it to the new computer (instructions are below). Then install QUOSA Information Manager on your new machine.
When you get your Authorization Code for the new computer by email, send an email to support@quosa.com asking them to switch your license to that computer. Please include
your ID #. You will be advised when the change has been made and that the QUOSA
Information Manager on the new computer is fully enabled.
This procedure allows you to save your QUOSA data archive and return it to the same or
a new computer without loss of any data.
1. Choose QUOSA menu Settings->Algorithm Settings and click the Service tab.
Make a note of the Data directory path. This is the location where QUOSA
keeps all its data.
2. Click the Browse icon next to the Data directory path and navigate to 1 level
above the QUOSA folder. For example: if the path to data is C:\Documents and
Settings\JohnDoe\Local Settings\Application Data\Quosa\Data, you would go to
C:\Documents and Settings\JohnDoe\Local Settings\Application Data.
3. Zip the QUOSA folder there
by right clicking on the QUOSA folder and choose Send To->Compressed (zipped) Folder.
4. Move this archive to another computer or to a network drive. (The QUOSA data
folder is usually in a hierarchy of hidden folders, so you may have to locate it by
searching for it with the option set to look inside hidden folders.)
5. When you are are ready to install QUOSA again, either on the same computer or
a new one, first extract the zipped data to the location corresponding exactly to
the location of the QUOSA folder on the old computer. Alternatively, select
another location and after QUOSA is installed change the data path under
Settings to the new data path. (Please note that this option will break EndNote
links.)
6. Download and install QUOSA on the new computer.
7. When you start QUOSA it may tell you that it cannot validate registration
information. If so quit and register again. All data should be intact.
